Quick RMNP Fishing Report: July 12, 2020

The waters in Rocky Mountain National Park are starting to hit their prime! Fishing has been outstanding. I made the hike up to Fern Lake with a few clients, and had a great time catching the wild Greenback Cutthroat trout that reside there. The fish were happy to eat well-presented dry flies all day. Fish were actively cruising the banks, so casts over 20 feet were not required, and no need to wade into the lake. On 9-foot 5x monofilament leader and a foot of 5x tippet, a couple of favorite flies were: size #14 elk hair caddis (olive), #14 black ant, and #14 Royal Wulff.
